Dr. Hammond is a native Michigander who was raised in southeast Michigan. He went to college at the University of Michigan, graduating with a degree in neuroscience. He stayed in Ann Arbor for medical school at the University of Michigan before moving to Flint for his orthopedic surgery residency at McLaren-Flint through Michigan State University. While in residency, he became enamored with hand surgery and hand anatomy, which led to him pursuing a fellowship in hand and wrist surgery at the University of Alabama – Birmingham where he furthered his knowledge of hand ailments and surgical techniques. Following his fellowship, he practiced at a hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri for three and a half years before deciding to move back home to Michigan and starting at AOS.
He is very excited to have moved back to Michigan and looks forward to taking care of patients from his hometown. When not performing hand and wrist surgery, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, golfing, reading, board games, and making the occasional TikTok video.
